The fourth generation of the iPhone OS is being announced today. The iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad will be getting new features. What features do you think will be coming? Multitasking? Tethering? The cloud?

"We are releasing it for end users for iPhone and iPod touch for users this summer. For the 3GS and iPod touch 3rd gen. And, for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd gen, they will run many things... but there are some things they won't run, like multitasking."
So the iPhone 3G and OG are getting a watered down version of this. No multitasking. Booooo..

The ads will act more like an app within an app. When you click on an ad in an app, the ad takes over your screen with what looks just like another app with interactive items like video and pictures. They are fully interactive just like any other apps....but it's an AD.

Now talking about GameCenter. What is that?
They’re adding a social gaming network. You can challenge a friend to a game. Also, automatic matchmaking to find random people to match up with you in multiplayer games. And, leaderboards.

New Enterprise features better data protection. It encrypts email and attachments. There will be APIs available so developers can encrypt stuff inside their own apps. Also, Mobile Device management.

Unified mailbox!! Get all your inbox mail in one screen. You can now have more than 1 exchange account. Also, you can open attachments with apps.

There will be 1500 new APIs. In-app SMS, Calendar, Automated testing, Full map overlays, full access to still and video camera data, carrier information, ICC profiles, Image I/O, half-curl page transition, Quick Look, package-based documents, call event notifications, iPod remote control accessories, Draggable map annotations and a few more. Nothing super amazing in here that we see in here.
